Process for making Divisadero Bookshelf
This custom pair of white oak bookshelves was designed to showcase audio speakers in a client’s home office. The process began with discussing the form, dimensions,
material, and finish options. We chose flat-sawn white oak for its distinctive grain pattern. I was excited by the client’s choice to use a unique cherry finish and the
character it brought to the set of shelves. After milling and gluing the lumber, I cut the dados and overall form on the CNC router. I constructed the shelves using a housing joint to
ensure structural integrity, which was important for supporting the weight of speakers and books.
